By working closely with ergonomists, VERCO have designed the Ergoform chair to control pelvic rotation, automatically. This allows the spine to adopt its natural ‘S’ shaped curvature, with the lumbar region curving inwards, rather than the lazy ‘C’ shape when a person normally sits down. This is caused by the pelvis rotating backwards, forcing the spinal column to bend forward and adopt the lazy ‘C’ curvature. This increases the strain on the spinal ligaments and may also lead to the crushing of the intervertebral discs and subsequent back pain. With its ergonomically designed back shape it gently supports the pelvic girdle and reduces the tendency of the pelvis to rotate when the user sits down. Ergoform’s ergonomic qualities have been recognised and the range was awarded the FIRA ergonomic excellence award in 2004. All Ergoform operator chairs comply to all relevant UK and European performance standards and carry a full five year guarantee in normal office use.
