This month, we've more to tell you about
DNA
- two years in gestation, critically acclaimed in prototype,
destined for great things in its now fast-advancing completion.
The
proofs for some very lavish literature reveal how this fabulous
range meets life/workstyle aspirations more than any other
VERCO product to date.
By
counterpoint, new SystemLine
furniture fills an important gap in our portfolio with a stand-alone,
easy specify, easy-install contract range for entry level
budgets. There will be no shortage of takers for this design
in the currently challenging market.
And
we report further on VERCO design in application: this time,
head office relocation for one of the UK's largest recycling
and waste management service providers. Managed by VERCO dealer
Cardiff-based D&G Office Interiors, employing top-end
Corniche furniture with Ocean
seating, it looks simply great.

In
June's v-Zine, we reported on incoming literature
to support sales of VERCO's critically-acclaimed
furniture programme, DNA.
Well, here it is.
At
a glance, its relationship with the family of
VERCO product literature is reassuringly evident.
|
|
|
| |
| Open to the first double
spread of this lavish 32-page A4 publication and it becomes
clear that this is not simply another catalogue so much as
an affirmation of a life and workstyle need that VERCO and
its sales partners recognise and - in this stunning new line
- can now resolve.
A cool, uncluttered linearity in graphic
design is exemplified by high quality studio and location
photography complemented by subtly deft brushes of text that
combine to assert the desirability of the DNA design aesthetic
first and foremost, its components secondly. In effect, it’s
conceptual in approach.
“It’s the appropriate graphical
medium in which to communicate DNA, its style and subtlety,
its efficiencies,” says VERCO sales and marketing director
Chris Riley. “It constitutes not just another furniture
solution, but a new approach to working and being valued in
the process.”
For the benefit of new readers - what is DNA?
It’s the solution of the moment from top designer Roger
Webb who has excelled here in enabling multiple solutions
in workstation, executive desking, tables and storage from
a small number of clever components.
The range employs high-pressure die-cast aluminium leg frames
connected to simple steel rails to form a framework for work
surfaces that provides robust support yet with a clean, light
and spacious aesthetic.
The open plan dynamic of the bench system concept can be extended
to storage ‘spine’ workstation arrangements, which
provide excellent local storage and good definition via integrated,
low-level storage and screening. It’s a subtle, clever
design that’s a joy to use as well as making a strong
visual statement.
That statement finds its ‘voice’ in literature
for what is clearly going to be for many, an aspirational
specification.

Head office relocation for one of the UK's largest
recycling and waste management service providers
incorporates an implementation of VERCO management
furniture using Corniche
and Ocean
design solutions.
Growing
demand for its services from third parties in
addition to its parent has necessitated Severnside
Recycling's move to new headquarters near Caerphilly
where two of three buildings on site have been
subject to refurbishment by Cardiff-based D&G
Office Interiors. |
|
|
|
| |
One
building accommodates 130 people on open plan administration
areas to floors one and two, leaving the top exclusively
for housing Severnside’s management team.
On this level, D&G Office Interiors have specified desking
and storage furniture to seven office suites with complementary
boardroom tables to four meeting rooms from VERCO’s
Corniche
range. Seating needs throughout have been met by over 60
VERCO Ocean
high back task chairs in leather upholstery.
Responsible for ensuring constant raw materials supply to
the UK’s largest manufacturer of paper products, St.
Regis Paper – itself part of corrugated packaging
supplier and stationery and office products distributor,
David S. Smith (Holdings) - Severnside has evolved to become
the country’s top recoverer and re-processor of post
consumer packaging.
The company recovers around 1.8 million tonnes of recyclable
material annually, 800,000 tonnes of which is derived from
its own locations.
In the process, it has also established a nationwide estate
of recycling facilities via a growing partner network.
Growth is unsurprising. Recent years has seen a dramatic
extension of Severnside services into the area of integrated
waste management, helping clients tackle the complexities
of environmental legislation and the escalating costs of
environmental compliance by the outsourcing of their management.
Leading public and private sector organizations, amongst
them High Street names such as Tesco, Morrison’s,
Butler and Tanner, Waitrose, Co-operative Group, Somerfield,
Next & Lloyds TSB benefit from Servernside’s advice
and management expertise.
D&G Office Interiors Paul Gardener managed the Caerphilly
site refurbishment providing partitioning and flooring to
a new building.
Corniche
deploys the natural beauty and warmth of wood veneer to
effect. Quality materials and craftsmanship typify the range
which includes mobile and desk height pedestals, cupboards
and bookcases as well as conference tables, a bespoke variant
of which were commissioned for this contract.
Ocean
managerial/task seating make for a sophisticated solution
to seating needs.
Catering to the needs of the discerning user, individually
moulded seat and back cushions combine with a fully synchronised
mechanism with tension control, lockable adjustment and
anti-return safety, allowing these chairs to be specified
to any requirement.
“The client sought affordable quality that coupled
practical needs to a stylish and contemporary aesthetic,”
summarises Paul.
“The management floor was a case in point. Corniche
is a proven success in servicing board level needs and still
cuts it at the final decision stage by offering a mix of
luxury, gravitas and modernity. The Ocean chairs are supremely
comfortable and complement the tables and storage units
perfectly.”
Another factor in Severnside’s choice of VERCO for
its new management suites was the supplier’s own commitment
to sustainability issues.
“Severnside is managing processes that are environmentally
beneficial and it is naturally concerned that its suppliers
match its commitment,” says Paul.
“VERCO works on a continual process to identify, evaluate
and where ever possible, reduce the environmental impact
of its operations and its products throughout their life
cycle. It’s also strong on waste reduction, re-use
or recycling.”
The overall refurbishment at Severnside has gone smoothly,
Paul relates. He is following in the footsteps of his newly-retired
father, and D&G Office Interiors founder, Alan, who
presided over the refurbishment of Severnside’s former
headquarters over 25 years ago.
